Structure

How the hackerspace is managed

  • Form a corporation to hold money
  • Establish a bank account
  • Become a 501c3 non profit educational organization
    • Costs ($300)1
    • Cost: $750 based on 5 year projection
  • decide on officers and start paperwork
    • Officers are decided, paperwork started
  • Decide on dues
    • All same price $$
    • Dues decided: $50 normal, $35 + 6hrs required time donation w/ student discount
  • Members sign agreement to bylaws and insurance
  • Pay through PayPal
    • Done: Setup 11/24 for donations paypal@interlockroc.org
  • Decide whether to create a holding company for dues prior to 501(c)(3) completion
    • Incorporation papers submitted on 11/25/09
  • Gather focus groups (e.g. home brewing, print screeners, photographers, network security) see classes

Security

  • We need a way to determine who has access to what (no system should be accessible to only a single administrator)
  • W also need a secure way to share login information
    • PGP/GPG is a popular option but OS X support is severely lacking
